Please be kind this is the first fic I've written.

It was New Year's Eve, and Giles's apartment was crowded, Buffy was glad that her mom knew about her calling or else she would be surprised by some of the company that was there. After all, how often does one see two vampires and a former vengeance demon talking about the old days, the really really old days? Buffy sighed as she looked
at Angel, Spike and Anya off to one side discussing the Victorian age, and what it was really like. She saw Xander and Riley off to another side discussing some events that had happened on the Hellmouth before the army had arrived in Sunnydale. She was surprised by the sight of Cordelia and Willow laughing over some joke that she
hadn't heard. She had never thought that those two would ever bond, much less become friends. Wesley and Giles were reminiscing about being Watchers, while Olivia and Joyce were talking about art. Buffy sighed in contentment, she knew that the year had been hard on everyone. First with Graduation being the mess that it had been, and
then with Angel and Cordelia losing their friend Doyle in a battle against some demons. Things in Sunnydale hadn't improved, with the Initiative, and Spike's return. And she knew that probably five minutes after midnight things would return to normal, with Angel and Riley glaring at one another, Spike calling Angel every sort of rude
name, and things between Angel and Buffy would be just as tense. After all, Sunnydale was her turf, and L.A. was his. But Willow had suggested re-uniting everyone for New Year's, and Buffy had felt that it was needed to try to heal things between everyone. She knew in her heart that both Angel Investigations and the Scoobies would need one
another. Evil was afoot in both towns, and although it might be quiet for the night, it would come back as strong as ever the next night.
But for once, things were quiet and she had agreed with Willow's suggestion that they all needed the chance to heal things between the two groups of friends. After all New Year's was a chance of renewal. Even though everyone in that room knew that things weren't going to change overnight, there were still way too many emotions between all
of them. But it was a chance to start healing things and mending broken bridges. She was interrupted from her thoughts when her mom suggested that all of them share their New Year's resolutions with one another.

"How about we start with you, Buffy?" Joyce suggested.
"Mom, you know I don't make resolutions. Its not as if anyone ever
keeps them."
"Buffy, the point's not whether we keep them or not, its the coming
up with one that's the fun." Xander stated.
"Well, if that's the way you feel, how about you start then?" Buffy
suggested.
"Fine, my resolution is not to call Giles, the G-man anymore." Xander
grinned as he made his resolution, knowing full well he would make
sure that he would break that one right away.
"Xander, how many times do I have to tell you not to call me that?"
Giles asked in a tired tone.
"I dunno, but what's your resolution Giles?" Xander asked the former
Watcher.
"Hmm. to spend more time with Olivia." Giles stated, as Olivia looked
pleased.
"Would that be in England, Giles?" Olivia asked.
"Well I'll definitely try to visit home more often. What's your
resolution Olivia?"
"Hmmm, to make sure I keep my voice." Olivia responded, referring to
when the Gentleman had recently stolen all the voices in Sunnydale.
"Well, mine would be to stop keeping secrets from Buffy," Riley
stated, "What about you, Spike?"
"To get this chip removed." Spike stated, leaving out the part so
that he could murder everyone in the room out, after all it was New
Year's Eve.
"Then mine is to make sure that doesn't happen, Spike. Can't have you
running around causing mayhem in Sunnydale. What about you Willow?"
Buffy asked.
"I don't know, to not cast "my will be done" spells," Willow replied
referring to the spell that had caused so much harm, "What about you
Cordelia?"
"To get a raise from my boss so that I can afford some of the basic
necessities in life. What about you Wesley?"
"Hmm. I don't know, I don't really have any resolutions, perhaps to
make sure you stay out of trouble Cordelia. What about you, Mrs.
Summers?"
"To make sure the gallery becomes more of a success. And yourself,
Anya."
"To have a bit more tact in the New Year to make Xander happy,
because when Xander is happy..."
"Ann, please not here!" Xander cut off Anya.
"But Xander, I was just going to say that when you're happy we have
lots of sex. What's wrong with that?" Anya asked her boyfriend, well
everyone else groaned.
"Well my resolution for the New Year's will be to make sure the
streets of L.A. become safer." Angel said.
"What about brooding less?" Cordelia asked.
"I do not brood." Angel replied. Everyone in the room just looked at Angel in disbelief, and started talking again. Buffy sighed; she knew that some of the resolutions that people had made wouldn't work out. She knew that there was no way that Anya was not going to continue being frank and honest, despite Xander's protests. She also knew deep in her heart, that whether or not Riley and her were honest with one another, they would still have problems. But it was New Year's Eve and things on the Hellmouth were quiet, and it was a time to celebrate the new beginnings they were all being offered. She looked over her family, both her close and her extended, and smiled. She knew that things weren't going to work out for all of them the way they wanted it, and that Sunnydale being on the Hellmouth that bad things would continue to happen. But tonight, she could pretend to be somewhat normal. Despite the fact that three of the guests were talking about a time when they had all been evil, and several others
were talking about the supernatural. She sighed again, "well its as normal as my life will ever be."
