Buffy woke up to sunshine streaming into the bedroom of
Giles' apartment. She was surprised because she would never have
thought that the apartment got that much sunshine, plus it was a nice
treat after having two boyfriends who could never stand the sun. She
smiled as she felt his warm body next to her; it was another thing
that she definitely liked about him. She knew that she loved for a
million other reasons, and it wouldn't have mattered to her if he had
been a vampire or demon, but the fact that he was a human just made
it all that much better. She also knew that he was awake and slightly
uncomfortable.
"You're not regretting last night, are you?" Buffy asked.
"No, last night was magnificent."
"Then what's wrong?" Buffy looked up at him and could see the frown
etched in his face.
"Well, I suppose I should tell you something."
"What's so grim?"
"Spike's alive." Giles knew it was the minute that he was going to
lose her.
"What?" Buffy sat up and looked Giles in the face not believing him.
"Spike's alive. Well, he's still a vampire and he still has his soul."
"You mean Spike's not dead?" Buffy whispered in shock.
"No I suppose he's not dead in the sense that he's gone from this
plane of existence. Do you want me to book you a flight to L.A.?"
Giles knew that she might love him, but he knew that she would want a
younger man. Well someone with the appearance of a younger man.
"Why would I want a flight to L.A.?" Buffy asked confused.
"So you could be with him."
"Be with him? Why would I want that?" Buffy moved so that she was
straddling him.
"Because you love him?" Giles asked.
"Yeah but I love Willow too, do you want to book me a flight to New
Orleans?"
"What?" Giles asked, quite confused at what Buffy was saying, it
didn't help that she was sitting on him completely naked and it was
distracting him.
"Well you seem to want to send me to L.A. because I love Spike, I am
assuming that's where he is, right? Well when I am done there, maybe
I should go see Willow in New Orleans cuz I love her too."
"But you don't love her the same way that you love Spike, do you?"
"Nah I love Willow more, she's like a sister to me. Spike, I love
like an ex-boyfriend, kinda like Angel."
"I am quite confused Buffy, and please quit doing that." Giles
grabbed her hands, which Buffy had been using to play with her
breasts.
"Well you weren't doing it." Buffy pouted at him.
"Buffy, please."
"Please what Giles?" Buffy asked with a wicked smile on her face as
she leaned in close to kiss him.
"Buffy please be serious for a moment."
"You don't wanna play?" Buffy pouted again.
"Yes I do, but it's just that…"
"You thought I would leave you because Spike was alive?"
"Well quite frankly, yes."
"Oh Giles, I love you and want to spend the rest of our lives
together. I wouldn't leave you for no one."
"What about Angel?"
"It didn't work out for us and there's too much water under that
bridge, I am with the person I want to be with right now." Buffy
smiled down at him.
"Buffy I am a lot older than you."
"Yeah but considerably younger than most of my boyfriends."
"Buffy… that's not what I meant."
"I know what you meant, I figure it this way Giles, Slayers, and we
don't have long lives in general. And I have already cheated death
twice. I am gonna live my life happy with the man I am in love with.
And that is you."
"Are you sure?"
"Never been more sure of anything in my life."
"It's just that…"
"Shut up Giles, I can think of more interesting things for you to do
with your mouth and asking me if I wanna go be with Spike or if I am
sure about the age difference, is definitely not one of them."
"Buffy!" Giles said in shock.
"Like you weren't thinking it last night when we got back here?"
"Well if you put it that way." Giles smiled wickedly up at Buffy.
"I love you Giles."
"I love you too Buffy."
